My work grows out of the cultural sanctuary of my hometown, Washington, D.C. I've been surrounded by art for as long as I can remember, and those early experiences shaped how I see the world. As a child wandering the forests of Rock Creek Park and the woods of Tidewater, Virginia, I learned to pay attention to texture- the weight of soil, the roughness of bark, the layered patterns nature makes without effort. Those details settled into me and still guide my hand today. In my mixed-media pieces, I blend repurposed materials like string, textured papers and textiles into quiet, layered stories. My work is a process of self-discovery and cultural reaffirmation, ground in memory, ancestry, and a spiritual sense of connection. Each piece reflects something I'm learning, remembering, or honoring- a way of staying close to the places and experiences that shaped me.
